Vikings Secure Sixth Straight Win with Early Triumph Over Titans – North Park University Athletics

North Park Baseball Shines in Recent Win

North Park University’s baseball team celebrated a solid 7-3 victory over Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The game took place at the Holmgren Athletic Complex, where the Vikings showcased their talent.

From the start, North Park made their presence known. They scored in the first three innings, building a strong 7-1 lead. Sophomore shortstop Kupono Akaka was a standout player, reaching base four times and making five defensive plays without an error.

Pitcher Jacob Titsworth set the stage early. He retired the first three batters and allowed just one hit through the first two innings. In the first inning, North Park scored when Rylan Kawakami hit a double to center and later crossed the plate due to an infield error. Titsworth remained in control, keeping the Titans at bay with his skillful pitching.

Despite a solo home run by UW-Oshkosh in the fourth inning, Titsworth finished with impressive stats: four strikeouts and no walks. He exited after five strong innings, having faced minimal harm.

The Vikings’ offense picked up momentum thanks to Akaka’s early walk. Following him, Joe Perona and John Greenwood added runs, with Greenwood hitting a two-run single. In the third inning, the team extended their lead with a series of hits and a sacrifice fly from Eli Johnson. By the end of the inning, the score was 7-1.

Relief pitcher Dawson Nuese took over after Titsworth. He handled his first game at Holmgren well, allowing no runs and striking out one batter. Although UW-Oshkosh scored with a two-run home run in the eighth, North Park’s bullpen quickly sealed the game, with Zach Price striking out multiple batters and ensuring the victory.

Player Highlights:

  • Kupono Akaka: 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 5 defensive plays.
  • Jacob Titsworth: 5 innings pitched, 4 strikeouts, no walks.
  • Zach Price: Clean performance with 3 strikeouts.

North Park continues their strong season with a record of 13-6 and maintains momentum as they head to face Carroll University next.
