Lindsey Vonn’s Inspiring Comeback at the Winter Olympics
Lindsey Vonn is ready to tackle the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina, despite suffering a torn ACL from a recent fall. Just days ago, she experienced a serious crash during a World Cup downhill race in Switzerland. The injury includes a “complete rupture” of her left ACL and some bone bruising.
After three days of therapy and doctor consultations, Vonn hit the slopes again. She walked into a news conference without a limp, showing her determination.
“My knee isn’t swollen, and with the help of a knee brace, I feel confident to compete on Sunday,” she said.
While Vonn recognized her chances of winning are different now, she remains hopeful. “As long as there’s a chance, I’ll try my best,” she added.
Teammate Bella Wright believes in Vonn’s mental strength, saying, “If anyone can do it, it’s Lindsey.” This resilience is not new; Vonn has faced multiple injuries throughout her career.
Reflecting on her journey, Vonn stated, “This would be the best comeback I’ve done so far. Definitely the most dramatic.” Last season, she returned to ski racing at age 40 after nearly six years away, even competing with a titanium implant in her knee.
Vonn has already made a mark in the earlier season, finishing on the podium in seven out of eight World Cup races, proving her talent remains strong. In past Olympics, she’s earned three medals: a gold in 2010 and two bronzes in 2010 and 2018.
As women’s skiing kicks off in Cortina, all eyes will be on Vonn, who holds the record with 12 World Cup wins there. Her story mirrors the spirit of the Olympics—resilience and pushing limits.
