In Patna, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar praised the Narendra Modi government for the impressive growth India has achieved over the last decade. He made these comments during a celebration of the 101st birth anniversary of Karpoori Thakur in Samastipur, where a gathering took place at the Gokhul Karpoori Phuleshawari Degree College. The college’s principal, Dr. Sneha, welcomed the attendees.

Dhankhar highlighted that India has become the fifth largest economy and expressed confidence that it will rise to the third position in five years. He also shared his vision of India becoming a ‘Vishwa Guru’ by 2047, emphasizing that the country’s rapid development has lifted the hopes of its people.
He commended Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives that have improved daily life for many, including access to gas, electricity, and sanitation facilities. Dhankhar encouraged young people to explore opportunities beyond traditional government jobs, suggesting they could find success in various fields created by current policies.
Reflecting on past governments, Dhankhar noted the late recognition of leaders like Karpoori Thakur, questioning why awards like the Bharat Ratna took so long to be awarded. He appreciated the current government’s efforts to honor those who have contributed to society.
Among those present at the event were Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and several Union ministers. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended later, with Dhankhar recognizing his commitment to Thakur’s legacy.
During his speech, Dhankhar spoke highly of Thakur’s legacy, noting his work towards social justice and educational reform. Thakur made education free up to Class X and opened access to the Patna secretariat elevator, empowering many. Dhankhar referred to Thakur as a “messiah of social justice,” lauding his approach to equality and steadfastness against dynastic politics.
Dhankhar emphasized Thakur’s humble origins and dedicated service, stating, “He never exploited his position for personal gain.” He pointed out that Thakur’s efforts were crucial in establishing reservations for economically and socially disadvantaged groups, significantly influencing India’s social landscape.
