Wake Forest Set to Shine in Eighth Consecutive NCAA Championship: What Fans Can Expect!

Wake Forest Women’s Golf at NCAA Championships

Wake Forest women’s golf team is ready for the NCAA Championships, marking their eighth year in a row competing in this prestigious event. The competition kicks off at La Costa Country Club in Carlsbad, California on May 22.

The Demon Deacons recently showcased their skills at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. They not only won the team title but also secured individual honors for another year. Their third-round score of 278 (-10) was the best recorded at a regional in the program’s history. This beat their previous record of 282 (-6) from 2022. They closed the regional with an impressive 54-hole score of 856 (-8), the lowest since 2007.

Graduate student Morgan Ketchum really stood out, finishing with a 66 (-6) in the final round. Her total score of 209 (-7) earned her a co-championship title. Notably, her round score set a program record, outranking Jennifer Kupcho’s third-round score from 2018.

Three players from the team have prior experience at La Costa: Chloe Kovelesky, Macy Pate, and Anne-Sterre den Dunnen. They all participated when the team competed here before. Pate stands out this season with a scoring average of 71.70, including her first career win and remarkable rounds at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. She continues to perform consistently, finishing in the top 25 in seven of the nine tournaments she played this season.

Kovelesky is making waves too. She has back-to-back third-place finishes and was among the top performers at the Tallahassee Regional.

Championship Format

The championship format consists of three days of stroke play from Friday to Sunday, totaling 54 holes. The top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will then be decided. Day four will feature one final 18-hole stroke play round to determine the top eight teams for match play and the individual champion.

You can catch the live coverage starting May 25 on Golf Channel, with the final round of stroke play airing from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The match play quarterfinals will take place on May 26.
