Wake Forest’s Haberer Shines as Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar: Celebrating Academic and Athletic Excellence

NORMAN, Okla. – Tom Haberer, a rising junior, has been recognized as a 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). This award highlights academic and athletic excellence.

This year, 556 NCAA Division I athletes from 190 schools received similar honors. It’s a mark of accomplishment that combines skill on the golf course with strong academic performance.

Haberer showcased his talent during the NCAA Amherst Regional, shooting a final round score of 67, which is tied for his best collegiate score. This season, he achieved his highest finish at the Lyon’s Links Invitational, where he tied for sixth place.

In addition, he had a solid showing in the postseason with a bogey-free second round of 69 at the ACC Championship, landing him in the top 25 with a total score of one-over.

Haberer concluded his sophomore season with an impressive scoring average of 72.73. Achieving the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar status requires a combination of on-course performance and academic strength. Eligible candidates must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors and have played in at least 50% of their team’s rounds. They also need to have a stroke average below 76.0 and maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

In today’s competitive sports environment, it’s worth noting that student-athletes have to balance rigorous schedules. According to a recent NCAA report, over 70% of athletes identify time management as a major challenge. This makes Haberer’s achievements even more impressive.
