Feeling bored with your usual shopping routine? Walmart is stepping up to change that. Starting in 2025, they’re planning to launch several new supercenters across the country, designed with the customer in mind.
Remember the old Walmart supercenters? They were massive, open 24 hours, and a go-to spot for many. But the landscape changed. With the pandemic and various restrictions, the appeal of these stores declined. Many people turned to alternatives like 7-Eleven and gas stations for late-night necessities.
Fast forward to 2025, and Walmart is ready to revive the supercenter experience. The first one will open in Cypress, Texas. This new breed of supercenters aims to modernize shopping, although they won’t be open 24 hours as in the past. Instead, they’re focusing on enhancing the overall shopping experience.
While the Cypress store won’t follow the all-night model, it will offer unique features. Think of a fuel station, vision care services, and digital shelf labels that make shopping easier. Plus, they’re tailoring offerings to local tastes—this location even includes a Hispanic bakery. New sections feature Baby supplies, Pet products, and even services like tire installation and TV mounting.
Groceries, however, remain the star of the show. While Walmart is adding new services and products, food items are still the backbone of their business. According to a recent report, groceries accounted for over $400 billion of Walmart’s sales in 2022, highlighting the crucial role they play in their strategy.
