Warning: 130,000 Igloo Coolers Recalled Due to Serious Finger Injury Risk!

About 130,000 Igloo coolers have been recalled after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported 78 injuries. These injuries, linked to the cooler’s tow handle, include serious issues like fingertip amputations and fractures.

This recall expands on an earlier warning from February concerning over a million of these coolers. Back then, the CPSC noted 12 injuries related to the same issue. Now, with the total rising, it’s clear that the design poses real risks.

The recall specifically affects coolers with “IGLOO” on the side, made before January 2024. You can find the manufacturing date on the cooler’s bottom. In addition to the U.S., about 20,000 coolers were also recalled in Canada and 5,900 in Mexico.

If you bought a cooler from January 2019 to January 2025, it’s best to stop using it immediately. Igloo is urging customers to reach out for a free replacement handle. The company emphasizes its commitment to customer safety and satisfaction.

According to a study published by the National Safety Council, incidents involving consumer products have been on the rise, especially during peak usage seasons like summer. This highlights the importance of effective product design and safety measures.

These coolers, sold at popular retailers like Academy, Costco, and Target, are typically priced between $80 and $140. Ensuring safe, reliable products should always be a priority for manufacturers, and recalls like this remind consumers to stay informed about their purchases.
