On Saturday night, the atmosphere at Warrior Coliseum was electric. Warren senior guard Julian Stadelman made history by becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer. He surpassed Evan French’s record during a decisive 70-35 victory against Philo.
Stadelman scored an impressive 27 points in the game, marking a memorable milestone. With just over six seconds left in the third quarter, his first free throw tied him with French at 1,451 points, and the second pushed him ahead. The crowd erupted in celebration as he achieved this remarkable feat.
“A lot of people were telling me I needed 27 points,” Stadelman said. He started strong with a jump shot just 17 seconds into the game, putting the now 18-2 Warriors ahead. “I knew my teammates wanted me to break the record tonight, so they kept feeding me the ball.”

French was present to witness the moment and even handed the game ball to Stadelman. “It’s great to be here,” French shared. “This shows what a good program Coach Maddox has built. It sets a standard for future players.”
Stadelman’s performance came amid a strong team effort. At one point, the Warriors executed a 17-0 run, with Stadelman contributing significantly. He also led the team with four assists.
By halftime, Warren had a commanding 42-20 lead. Coach Blane Maddox acknowledged the significance of the moment, noting how past players have paved the way for new talent. “All those guys set the foundation for players like Julian,” he said.
As for Stadelman’s future, he’s focused on leading his team through the rest of the season. The Warriors are on a 13-game winning streak and will aim for their 11th straight home win against Fairfield Union on Tuesday.
Other standout players included Colin Anthony and Tyson Cochran, who each contributed to the team’s solid performance. Meanwhile, Philo struggled, shooting only 27.7% from the field.
As Stadelman broke the school record, it wasn’t just a personal achievement; it highlighted the strength of the Warren basketball program and its tradition of excellence.
