Winona, Minn. – This weekend, the Winona State University softball team is off to face Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, April 18, with games starting at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. They will then play against Augustana University on Saturday, April 19, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Winona State’s record stands at 34 wins and 11 losses, with 15 wins and 5 losses in their conference (NSIC). Sam Keller is a standout player, boasting a .438 batting average alongside impressive stats: 44 runs, 60 hits, and 16 doubles. Braelee Jodarski has been powerful at the plate with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs, showcasing a slugging percentage of .744. Kiley Slaats has made a mark with 13 stolen bases.
In pitching, Jayda Berg leads with a 2.32 ERA, and her teammate Izzy Howe matches her with a 1.16 WHIP. Howe has also pitched the most innings at 147, where she tallied 157 strikeouts and held opponents to a batting average of .168. Coach Greg Jones is on the verge of making history with just four wins needed to reach 1,000 career wins at Winona State.
Looking at Southwest Minnesota State, their record is 28-20 overall and 10-12 in the NSIC. Riley Kramolisch leads their team with a .361 batting average and 61 hits. Lexi Ingallas is noted for her eight doubles and four triples, while Abby Russell contributes a home run and 27 RBIs. Brynn Webber shows impressive speed with a .437 on-base percentage and was successful in all nine of her stolen base attempts. On the mound, Jordyn Marsh leads with a 3.03 ERA, while Karlie Miller pitched 137.1 innings and struck out 94 batters.
Augusta University, a strong competitor, currently holds a record of 37-9 overall and 19-3 in the NSIC, riding a 12-game winning streak. Desi Cuevas has emerged as a key player with a .384 batting average, 56 hits, and 19 stolen bases on 22 attempts. Andrea Cain has contributed significantly with the most runs (51) and a .476 on-base percentage. Grace Glanzer shines in the circle, holding a low 1.23 ERA, with 170 strikeouts over 153.2 innings.
