Watch the Excitement: Top Boys Teams Triumph at B.C. Championships in Langley!

The 2025 BC School Sports Boys Basketball Provincial Championships concluded on March 8 at the Langley Events Centre. This event showcased 16 teams from across the province over four exciting days.

Four teams claimed titles, with three of them celebrating their first championship wins. The St. John’s School Saints from Vancouver took the 1A Tournament title, while the Pacific Academy Breakers from Surrey won the 2A Tournament. The Windsor Wolves from North Vancouver captured the 3A Tournament title. Victoria’s Spectrum Thunder repeated their success by winning the 4A Tournament for the second time in a row.

1A Tournament

In a thrilling matchup, the St. John’s School Eagles faced off against the formidable Unity Christian Flames, who had claimed three out of the last four 1A championships. The Eagles, as the No. 1 seed, trailed for most of the game but rallied to secure a stunning 87-82 victory. This win marked their first title in school history.

Despite being down eight points in the fourth quarter, the Eagles surged back, outscoring the Flames 17-4 in the final stretch. Their determination and teamwork paid off, making this victory especially sweet.

2A Tournament

Surrey’s Pacific Academy had an impressive second half, led by point guard Judah Ashbee, who scored a remarkable 22 of his 34 points after halftime. The Breakers overcame the Summerland Rockets with an 80-69 final score, taking home their first 2A championship title.

Judah Ashbee’s outstanding performance earned him the title of Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. His skill and leadership were crucial to the team’s success.

3A Tournament

The Windsor Wolves showcased a well-rounded offense and a strong rebounding game to secure their championship. They had five players scoring in double figures and dominated the boards with a 55-35 rebounding advantage. This led them to a 66-58 upset against the top-ranked St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights.

Once the Wolves took the lead in the first quarter, they maintained control for most of the game. Their teamwork and strategy paid off substantially.

4A Tournament

The Spectrum Thunder faced a challenge as their lead narrowed to just two points early in the fourth quarter. However, they responded decisively with a 10-2 run, ultimately defeating the Dover Bay Dolphins 81-66. This victory not only marked their second consecutive championship but also made it the first all-Vancouver Island final in 4A Tournament history since 1978.

Tyler Felt was a standout player, contributing 22 points and 10 rebounds. J Elijah Helman added 21 points, and Harper Kopp was named the Championship Player of the Game with 15 points.
