THE MEET
This Saturday, No. 1 Oklahoma aims for its 13th national championship in the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. CT at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois, and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Oklahoma will face tough competition from No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Ohio State, and No. 7 Illinois. The Sooners, having won their qualifying round with a score of 322.825, start on parallel bars. In contrast, Stanford will begin on vault and Michigan on pommel horse.
Oklahoma’s remarkable record includes 12 NCAA team titles, with nine of those since 2000. Since their last championship in 2018, they have consistently finished near the top. They have been in the NCAA Finals for 26 consecutive years, finishing in the top three in 23 of the last 24 championships.
This dominance is underscored by Oklahoma’s 12 titles, tied for the most in NCAA history alongside Penn State. Since 2002, they have outpaced their rivals, capturing two more titles than Stanford.

The Sooners have recorded the highest team scores this season. With a peak score of 332.100 at the MPSF Championship, they’ve proven their prowess again and again.
Oklahoma boasts an 8-0 record against the teams in the finals this season, showcasing their strength. Senior Ignacio Yockers earned the Elite Scholar-Athlete award for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA while studying computer science and mathematics, set to graduate soon. Freshman sensation Sasha Bogonosiuk was recognized as the national Rookie of the Year, making waves as one of the top-ranked freshmen nationally across multiple events.
Their coaching team, led by Mark Williams, has been pivotal. With a remarkable record spanning 27 seasons, Williams has nurtured talent that has brought home multiple championships.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
As of April 4, Oklahoma topped the final rankings with a noteworthy 328.150 NQA. They excel in several areas, including pommel horse and high bar, where they rank first.
Two of their gymnasts are leading in individual categories, reflecting their training’s success. Bogonosiuk’s performance has made him a standout, adding depth to the Sooners’ talent pool.
LAST TIME OUT
In their last outing, Oklahoma secured a place in the championship finals with an impressive qualifying session. Freshman talents like Bogonosiuk and Nathan Roman clinched individual titles, showcasing the team’s bright future.
