He cited the need for these troops due to a “planned Antifa-linked demonstration.” This move has faced backlash from Democrats. Texas Representative Gene Wu argued, “Sending armed soldiers to suppress peaceful protests is what kings and dictators do — and Greg Abbott just proved he’s one of them.”
