Tulane Golf is back in action this week! The team will compete in the Ironwood Invitational, hosted by East Carolina on Monday and Tuesday. This two-day tournament will take place at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Greenville, North Carolina.

Representing Tulane will be Gabriella Gilrowski, Francesca Pompa, Cristina Albertazzi, Matilde Innocenti, and Ruhee Pandit. They’ll tee off in a shotgun format at 7:45 a.m. CT on Monday, pairing with East Carolina, North Carolina State, and Virginia Tech for the first round.
The competition will feature 16 teams, including two ranked teams: No. 41 North Carolina State and No. 49 Virginia Tech. Among the other competitors are familiar conference rivals East Carolina and Memphis, along with teams like Elon, Boston, and William & Mary.
In recent years, women’s golf has seen impressive growth. According to the National Golf Foundation, female participation in golf has steadily increased. In 2022, there were over 7 million women playing golf in the United States, highlighting the sport’s appeal among all demographics. This rise in popularity reflects a broader trend where women are claiming their place in sports traditionally dominated by men.
