We Created a Delicious New Ice Cream Flavor: Discover the Best Treat We Tasted This Week!

My 21-year-old sister, Erika, finds baby showers incredibly boring. She’s not alone in this sentiment. With the same old Italian food, tedious diaper games, and endless gift unwrapping, it’s easy to see why. Recently, she attended one of our cousin’s celebrations and couldn’t hide her disinterest. She even joked about how weddings at least come with drinks.

In a moment of frustration, she turned to me in the bathroom and declared, "You better not throw me a baby shower—or at least make it interesting." So, I replied, "I’ll make it an escape room on your due date."

Inspired by that conversation, here are four delicious dishes I tried recently, each as exciting as giving birth in a time crunch!

Carrot Cake Pancakes at Marley’s Junior

Traveling to Warren County is totally worth it for breakfast disguised as dessert. Marley’s Junior is a charming spot in a converted hotel, and their Bugs Bunny Pancakes are a must-try. Topped with walnuts and cream cheese frosting, they’re rich and fluffy—think cupcakes for breakfast!

Location: 746 Route 57, Port Murray; Marley’s Junior.

Custom Ice Cream at Beenie’s

If you crave something sweet and fun, check out Beenie’s Ice Cream in Morristown. You can create your own ice cream flavor! I crafted a mix of cookies and cream with Golden Oreos and a peanut butter swirl. It turned out so well that they added it to their menu, and it sold out fast!

Location: 38 Morris St., Morristown; Beenie’s Ice Cream.

Chicken Milanese Caesar at Bar Mutz

This dish is a delightful twist on a classic Caesar salad. It consists of a massive chicken caesar cutlet. Whether you see it as a salad or a giant chicken dish, it’s sure to please.

Location: 90 Center Ave., Westwood; Bar Mutz.

Chicken Caesar Biscuit at Tonydoms

Imagine a savory biscuit that combines all the flavors of a chicken Caesar salad. That’s what you get at Tonydoms—a scrumptious, savory treat.

Location: 529 Morris Ave., Summit; Tonydoms.

The New Food Scene

Interest in unique food experiences continues to grow, especially among younger generations. A recent survey found that more than 60% of people aged 25-40 prefer dining experiences over traditional celebrations. Whether it’s a custom ice cream experience or a themed meal, creativity seems to be the driving force.

So, here’s to making gatherings more lively and fun—one innovative dish at a time!

Until next time, may your culinary adventures be as exciting as an unexpected baby shower.
