Weather Challenges Can’t Dampen Men’s Golf Performance at Seminole Intercollegiate – University of North Alabama Athletics

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 15, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men’s golf team is currently in 20th place at the Seminole Intercollegiate tournament in Tallahassee. This event was set for three days, with 18 holes each day. However, due to bad weather moving in, the schedule changed. Now, players will tackle 36 holes on Sunday and finish with 18 holes on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, play was suspended before all rounds could be completed, leaving several players with just a few holes left. The plan is to continue round two tomorrow after 4 p.m. Tuesday will still feature the final set of 18 holes.

In the first round, the Lions struggled, finishing 20 over par. The second round began with a 15-over start, keeping them in 20th position.

Andrew Ferworn is leading the team, currently in 25th place with a three-over score that includes five birdies across his 33 holes. He is followed by teammates Sebastian Bengtsson (75th), Jedd Brady (88th), Xing Luo (97th), and Estas (106). The team managed 14 birdies on the first day.

The Florida State team is in the lead as the only squad currently playing under par. Southern Miss is in second, moving up four spots, while Troy is in third. Western Kentucky made a significant jump, tying with Stetson for fourth place.

Other ASUN teams include Lipscomb in ninth, Austin Peay in 11th, and Eastern Kentucky in 18th place. As the tournament progresses, fans are keenly following the Lions in hopes they can improve their standing.

In sports, weather can dramatically shift outcomes. A 2020 study from the Journal of Sports Science found that playing conditions, including weather, can impact athletes’ performances. This knowledge adds an extra layer of strategy for teams navigating these challenges.

North Alabama will be back on the course tomorrow to continue their efforts at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
