Week 3 College Football Best Bets: Can Darian Mensah Shine Against His Former Team?

Last week was quite the ride in college football, especially for my projection model. It hit a winning streak, and some of the results were surprising.

Take Louisville and Syracuse, for instance. Both teams managed to cover the spread by just half a point. Betting is tricky, and a little luck can go a long way. But here’s the kicker: if you didn’t get in on the bets at the right time, you might have ended up with a push or even a loss. Timing is everything in sports betting, and getting the best number can make a significant difference over time.

Last week’s record: 3-2, +0.80 units
Season record: 5-4, +0.60 units, 6.0% ROI

As we dive into Week 3, I’ve got my eye on five interesting matchups. A couple of them are tempting but just shy of making the cut. Let’s take a closer look at some bets worth considering:

Colorado +4.5 at Houston
I’m not thrilled about this one, but the numbers are compelling. While Houston seems to be improving and Colorado appears to be on a downward trend, getting 4.5 points is valuable. My projections show this game closer to even, making Colorado a solid buy.

Arkansas at Ole Miss Under 61.5
Both teams play fast and have scored big, but Arkansas hasn’t faced strong opponents yet. Ole Miss played Kentucky, finishing with only 53 points. I’m cautious about how quickly they might score, predicting this could trend lower.

South Alabama at Auburn Under 55.5
I might overrate Auburn’s defense, but I expect South Alabama will struggle here. Auburn has a busy schedule coming up, so they might play conservatively to stay healthy. This leads me to believe the score won’t be too high.

Western Michigan at Illinois Over 50.5
Although the pace here may not excite, I expect Western Michigan to play faster than anticipated. They trailed against North Texas, which influenced their tempo. In this game, they’ll likely need to up their pace to keep up.

Duke at Tulane Under 54.5
The odds are in our favor here. Tulane is competitive, but Duke’s defense should hold up, leading to fewer points. While some might say Duke’s quarterback will want a breakout game against his old team, I think the defenses will dominate.

New Bet: South Carolina -3 vs. Vanderbilt
This matchup feels promising. Although the worst price to bet would be South Carolina -3 at -115, I see potential.

As always, be sure to shop around for the best odds. Good luck!

For anyone interested in the impact of sports betting, a recent study revealed that nearly 60% of college football fans now engage in betting activities. With legal sports betting expanding rapidly across the U.S., understanding the intricacies of betting strategies has never been more important.
