Week 9 Seahawks Game Update: Jarran Reed Ready to Play, Cooper Kupp Out Against Washington

LANDOVER, Md.—The Seahawks are set to face the Commanders tonight with a boost to their defensive line. Defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who was uncertain due to a wrist injury, will play.

However, starting receiver Cooper Kupp won’t be joining the game. He’s out with a hamstring issue, along with Jake Bobo and Dareke Young, who were ruled out earlier this week.

To fill the gap left by these injuries, the Seahawks have promoted receivers Cody White and Ricky White III from the practice squad. For Ricky White III, this will be his NFL debut after playing at UNLV.

Today’s lineup also includes cornerback Devon Witherspoon, back from a knee injury that kept him sidelined for most of the season. Outside linebacker Derick Hall, who missed two games because of an oblique injury, and rookie fullback Robbie Ouzts, returning from ankle issues, are both active. Rookie tight end Nick Kallerup is also making his debut this season.

Sadly, the Seahawks placed safety Julian Love and tight end Eric Saubert on injured reserve yesterday, so they won’t be participating either.

The impact of injuries in football is significant. In a recent study, injuries kept starting players off the field an average of four games last season. This not only changes team dynamics but also affects how fans engage with the game. Social media has been buzzing with discussions about how these injuries will impact both the Seahawks and their strategy against the Commanders.

Fans are anxious about how the team will adapt without key players. Some experts suggest that teams with deeper rosters can better handle these situations, as illustrated in several successful franchises. Adaptability is crucial in football, especially when injuries derail plans.
