Executives at Warner Bros. are excited about the performance of their film, Sinners. It is expected to earn around $30 million in its second weekend, with some predictions going higher, possibly between $35 million to $40 million. This could mean that the film will land significantly more than initial estimates, thanks to strong interest beyond just horror fans.

On its second Friday, Sinners earned $10 million, which is a 48% drop from its opening day. If the weekend goes well, it could reach a total of $107.5 million by Sunday, getting close to surpassing Creed’s total of $109.7 million.

This weekend could also mark the best box office results for the final weekend of April since the pandemic began. In comparison, the top five films are expected to generate between $100.5 million and $110.5 million, surpassing the $100.2 million achieved last year when Super Mario Bros brought in $40.8 million in its fourth weekend.

The Accountant 2, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Artists Equity, is projected to make around $23 million over its opening weekend, starting with $9.9 million today. This is slightly ahead of the first Accountant film’s debut.

Disney’s re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith brought in $10 million today, leading to an estimated $18 million to $20 million for the weekend. Originally released in 2005, Revenge of the Sith opened with over $108 million and has since accumulated $380 million in the domestic box office.

In other news, Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie is expected to add another $18 million to its total this weekend, with a current box office of $375.2 million. Meanwhile, Until Dawn, a horror film by Sony/Screen Gems, saw around $3 million today, projecting an opening weekend of about $7 million from a $15 million production budget.

Looking back, Sinners has shown impressive growth, earning $77.5 million in its first week, which is higher than other horror films like The Conjuring and Get Out during their initial weeks.

Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII, featuring concert footage, also made a splash, earning $1.29 million last night across 654 locations in North America.

Overall, the film landscape this weekend is bustling with activity and competition, offering audiences a range of options from horror to iconic franchises. The performance of these films indicates a steady recovery in box office numbers as more moviegoers return to theaters.
