Exciting News for Utah Women’s Soccer
Utah women’s soccer has welcomed Emma Greenwood as the new assistant coach. Coach Hideki Nakada expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Adding Emma is a significant step for our program. She’ll challenge our players to elevate their game.”
Greenwood comes to Utah after a successful season at Cal Poly Pomona, where her team achieved an impressive 18-3-3 record. They won their conference championship and even reached the Final Four. Under her guidance, the Broncos produced three All-Americans and nine players received academic all-district honors.
Before her stint at Cal Poly Pomona, Greenwood spent four years with Legends FC in San Diego. There, she took on multiple roles, including ECNL Director and Head Coach. She was instrumental in player recruitment, program development, and training. Her efforts helped Legends FC gain recognition as one of the top youth soccer clubs in Southern California.
In 2024, Greenwood was also part of the West Region ODP staff, which focused on identifying and evaluating talent across the region.
Her coaching journey also includes time with the San Diego Surf Soccer Club and Palomar College. At Palomar, she contributed to player development, team training, and scouting.
Originally from England, Greenwood has received several accolades, including the 2016 USYS Region III Coach of the Year. She played collegiate soccer at the University of Montevallo, where she earned a degree in kinesiology. With her impressive qualifications, including a USSF “A” License, Greenwood brings a wealth of experience to the Utes.
As the soccer landscape continues to evolve, the role of coaches like Greenwood is more vital than ever. Recent studies show that effective coaching can significantly improve athlete performance and resilience. Coaches who prioritize individual growth and skill development are more likely to foster long-term success for their players both on and off the field.
