The chairman of the Weld County GOP was arrested on charges related to child exploitation. Hunter Rivera, 24, allegedly solicited a child prostitute and attempted child sex assault. These serious charges stemmed from an undercover operation by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, which focused on child predators.
During the operation, detectives posed as minors offering sexual acts online. Multiple individuals responded to the ads, leading to appointments where they were arrested. Rivera is currently held on a $6,500 cash bond.
Rivera, who previously worked as an aide for Republican legislators, did not respond to requests for comments. Following the arrest, state Republican leaders called for his resignation, expressing their disgust over the allegations.
