Wesleyan Men’s Hockey Faces Tough Loss Against Tufts
On Friday night, the Wesleyan men’s hockey team faced a challenging match against Tufts University, ending in a 4-1 defeat. The game marked the team’s first outing of the season in the NESCAC league.
The Jumbos quickly established dominance, scoring first on a power play with a goal from Jonathan Horn. They maintained this momentum, adding two more goals throughout the game, with Trace Norwell and Max Resnick each finding the net.
Wesleyan struggled initially but managed to break the shutout late in the third period. With a man advantage due to a Tufts penalty, the Cardinals launched an attack. Connor Sutherland played a key role, driving the puck forward. Ethan Davidson assisted, helping Jack Marottolo shoot past goalie Gustave Bylin for Wesleyan’s single goal.
Despite moments of resilience, the Cardinals conceded one more goal in the final minutes, sealing a 4-1 victory for the Jumbos, scored by Cole Dubicki.
On the offensive side, Danny Judge stood out with six shots on goal. Defensively, Troy Maldonado contributed significantly with five blocked shots. In net, Patrick McDevitt made an impressive 33 saves, while Bylin secured 31 for Tufts.

Looking ahead, the Cardinals will face Connecticut College on Saturday, November 15, at 3 p.m. It’s an opportunity for the team to regroup and refine their strategy.
