MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Mountaineers are making waves as three players snag preseason All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Junior pitcher Chase Meyer earned a spot on the second team, while junior outfielder Armani Guzman and graduate pitcher Ian Korn made the fourth team.
Meyer had a solid sophomore season, posting a record of 9-2 and a 3.94 ERA. He struck out 63 batters over 48 innings. In his career so far, he’s notched 91 strikeouts in 67.1 innings.
Guzman played 49 games last season and shined towards the end, earning the title of Clemson Regional Most Outstanding Player. He finished the season with a .327 batting average, hitting two home runs, driving in 22 runs, and scoring 27 times. He also led the team with 17 stolen bases.
Korn joins the Mountaineers after an impressive four years at Seton Hill. Last year, he was named Division II National Pitcher of the Year, recording an 11-2 record and a stellar 1.81 ERA, along with 83 strikeouts in 84.1 innings.
