The Weymouth Food Pantry is dedicated to fighting hunger in Weymouth, Massachusetts. They are excited to join the Be Well Study, a project with researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB).
The Be Well Study aims to help food pantries adopt the Supporting Wellness at Pantries (SWAP) program. SWAP is a unique system that uses color codes to indicate the healthiness of food options—green for the healthiest choices and red for those that are less healthful. This simple system helps pantries make better food selections for their clients.
Along with implementing SWAP, the Be Well Study will include regular check-ins to measure how well the program is working. Researchers will collaborate closely with pantry staff and clients to assess progress and make any needed tweaks to improve outcomes.
This study is supported by the National Institutes of Health and has received approval from the Mass General Brigham Institutional Review Board. It represents a meaningful effort to enhance community health by promoting better nutrition.

Founded in 1987, the Weymouth Food Pantry is a non-profit organization that provides groceries to over 4,000 people each week. They serve between 100 to 250 families daily and hand out around 830,000 pounds of food every year.
