Whitney Leavitt Bids Farewell to ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’: What This Means for the Show

Whitney Leavitt is leaving The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She announced her departure during her last performance in Chicago on Sunday, and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed her exit.

Leavitt joined the hit reality series in September 2024. After a standout season on Dancing With the Stars, she took on the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago. Soon, she will also star in a holiday rom-com that she’s producing.

During her time in Chicago, ticket sales soared, setting new records. Her DWTS partner, Mark Ballas, even performed alongside her in a few shows before her final curtain call.

Leavitt’s exit is notable given the recent turmoil surrounding Mormon Wives. In April, production resumed after a pause linked to an internal investigation involving cast members Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen.

Reports surfaced in March about halted filming due to an alleged domestic incident. The concerns led to investigations from both the production team and Utah police. A leaked video of the incident involving Paul throwing barstools raised questions just days before the premiere of season 22 of The Bachelorette, prompting ABC to pull the show.

Prior to the pause, cameras had captured moments from the upcoming season, including visits to Leavitt during her performances. It’s still uncertain if she’ll return as a full-time cast member or make guest appearances.

In a recent interview with THR, Leavitt hinted at her exit, expressing a desire to explore more acting opportunities. She stated, “I’m figuring it out in real time… but it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways.”

Leavitt’s career continues to rise. She’ll soon attend the first-ever Dancing With the Stars fan convention in Palm Springs. Additionally, she was recently appointed chief creative and brand officer for Cool Sips, a New York-based soda brand.

As Leavitt moves forward, it’s clear she values growth and new challenges. Her journey reflects a broader trend in entertainment where reality stars transition into more scripted roles, showcasing their versatility. This shift is resonating with many fans eager to see their favorite stars take on new challenges.
