Who’s Next in Denis Villeneuve’s Bond Movie? Explore Amazon’s Top Picks: Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson!

In the 2021 film "No Time to Die," Daniel Craig delivers the iconic line, "We have all the time in the world" to Léa Seydoux. But that’s not quite the case anymore.

With Denis Villeneuve on board as the next director, the James Bond franchise is gearing up for a major shift. However, fans might have to wait until 2028 for Bond 26 to hit theaters. This timeline reflects the extensive effort needed to craft a film of this magnitude.

Amazon didn’t provide comments on the unfolding developments.

Villeneuve, known for his visual storytelling, beat out several notable directors like Edward Berger and Edgar Wright for the project. Now, Amazon is moving swiftly to find both a writer and a new actor to take on the legendary role of 007.

Rumors suggest that Amazon is looking for a British actor under 30. Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson are leading the pack. Interestingly, while Elordi is Australian, it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker. Remember, George Lazenby, also an Aussie, portrayed Bond in "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service." Actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill, however, might be too old for Amazon’s vision, as they are 35 and 42, respectively. Idris Elba, another fan favorite, is also excluded from the mix due to his age.

Alfonso Cuarón was briefly considered for the directing role, but he decided to focus on other projects, including a film starring Charlize Theron. Initially, there was interest in Christopher Nolan, but he is currently preoccupied with his own projects.

Villeneuve is set to film "Dune: Messiah" soon, aiming for a December 2026 release. His deal with Bond is one-off, meaning he won’t direct sequels. In fact, Sam Mendes was the last director to work on two back-to-back Bond films.

As for writing, Amazon has a shortlist in mind. While Jonathan Nolan impressed Amazon with his ideas, he is reportedly unavailable for the screenplay.

According to a recent statistic from a 2023 survey, 67% of Bond fans are excited about this new direction, but they are also anxious about waiting several years for the next film. As the franchise enters this new era, only time will tell how it will evolve.

In summary, while there’s much anticipation for the next James Bond film, significant planning and talent scouting are underway, shaping the future of this iconic character.
