Africa contributes less than 4% to global emissions, yet it faces some of the toughest impacts of climate change. The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) reports that increasing droughts and floods displace millions, making communities vulnerable.

Recent discussions emphasize viewing human mobility as an asset rather than a burden. This shift, highlighted during the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) in Addis Ababa, aligns with IOM’s Continental Strategy for Africa for 2025-2029.
