He voiced concerns about a recent trade deal with the U.S., suggesting it undermines India’s “Make in India” initiative.
Yadav stated that this deal hands over a significant portion of the Indian market to the U.S., claiming it breaks from the government’s commitment to support local industries and farmers. He emphasized that the focus should shift back to crucial, current matters rather than historical debates.
In addressing the government’s choices, he questioned the budget’s alignment with national interests. Notably, he pointed out that while the government promotes millet as a domestic crop, they continue to import it from abroad. Yadav also highlighted the importation of animal feed, stating that it threatens local research initiatives aimed at improving dairy production. He mentioned the Grassland and Fodder Research Institute in Jhansi, which is dedicated to developing fodder solutions to enhance milk quality and output.
He expressed worries that such policies particularly disadvantage backward classes and Dalits who rely on dairy farming for their livelihood, noting that while these communities work hard to produce milk, the political elite seems disconnected from these realities.
