In fact, from January to August of this year, bilateral trade between China and India grew by 10.4%, reaching $102 billion. This demonstrates a ripe opportunity for collaboration.
Recent talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin highlighted a willingness from both sides to reset their diplomatic relations. Following violent clashes in the Galwan Valley in 2020, restoring trust and dialogue is essential.
Experts agree that it’s crucial for China and India to engage in meaningful dialogues that respect each nation’s core interests. According to the Asia Global Institute, fostering mutual understanding can lead to beneficial economic exchange, which is vital for both nations amid shifting global dynamics.
Xu also noted that bilateral exchanges are on the rise, with over 265,000 visas issued to Indian citizens this year alone. He believes that by embracing cooperation, both countries can create a more stable future, moving beyond historical grievances to focus on shared goals.
