It looks like Jon Moxley is gearing up to defend his AEW World Championship against Adam Copeland at the upcoming Revolution pay-per-view. But getting there won’t be easy. Moxley has made it clear he’s not keen on facing Copeland. During the February 8, 2025 episode of Collision, he explained why he’s turning down the challenge.
Last week, Copeland boldly called for a one-on-one match for the title at Revolution. But this week, Moxley and his bodyguard took control of the broadcast. Marina Shafir tossed security aside like they were nothing, while Moxley wore a scowl that could sour lemonade. His frustration with Copeland was evident.
Moxley has grown tired of the so-called Rated R Superstar. He doesn’t appreciate Copeland trying to bully his way into a title shot. Moxley has many reasons for rejecting the challenge, but he kept it simple. He just doesn’t like Copeland. Moxley believes Copeland doesn’t understand what it takes to be AEW’s champion, and he made it clear that he’s not interested in the fight—unless it’s in a tag team street fight at Grand Slam Australia.
Sure, Moxley’s reason seems weak. I think fans would appreciate a more solid argument. Nevertheless, you can feel the tension building, especially with the street fight match on the horizon.
So, it’s official: Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli will face Adam Copeland and Jay White in a street fight in Brisbane at Grand Slam Australia.
What do you think about Moxley’s decision to avoid a title match with Copeland?
