New WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca president Mel Harder is excited about the surge in ticket sales for IndyCar’s annual event. While he didn’t share exact numbers, sources suggest sales are up around 20% compared to last year. The buzz is evident with noticeably larger crowds in the paddock, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
“Ticket sales are trending up,” Harder noted. “We’re doing a lot better than last year. We’re introducing new experiences like a roadhouse saloon and live entertainment, enhancing the overall vibe.”
Harder mentioned improvements for visitors, too. The admission area is newly paved for smoother access. Trams are available, making it easier to get around without excessive walking. Restrooms have also been revamped, creating a more comfortable environment.
The autograph session this year attracted more fans than ever, marking a successful return for IndyCar. “We want everyone’s experience here to be consistent and enjoyable,” he added.
This is Harder’s first year overseeing the Java House Grand Prix of Monterey, and he’s eager for many more. He emphasized the strong partnership with IndyCar and highlights how media coverage has boosted ticket sales.
IndyCar racing has produced thrilling spectacles this season, with stars like Alex Palou and Pato O’Ward drawing in fans. Overall, Harder feels optimistic about the series’ presence in the community and looks forward to continuing this momentum.
According to a recent survey conducted by the Sports & Entertainment Alliance in Technology, 61% of fans believe new experiences at sporting events enhance their enjoyment.
