Why One UI 7 Could Omit Key Galaxy S25 Features for Older Devices: What You Need to Know!

The Galaxy S25 series brings exciting new features compared to the Galaxy S24. Luckily, Samsung is also extending some of these updates to older models with the One UI 7.0 update based on Android 15. This includes cool capabilities like LOG videos and AI Filters. However, two features are not making the jump to older devices.

According to Tarun Vats on X, Samsung will not give older Galaxy S series smartphones the ability to record 10-bit HLG HDR videos or use natural language in the Gallery app search with the One UI 7.0 update. Let’s dive into what these features offer and their significance.

No 10-bit HLG Video Recording for Older Devices

The Galaxy S25 can record videos with 10-bit color depth in HLG HDR format. On older models, like the Galaxy S23, while you can still record in HDR10+ format, options for HLG aren’t available. This means less flexibility for video enthusiasts using older phones.

Therefore, if you own an older Galaxy phone, you might feel limited as it only supports the HDR10+ format, while the Galaxy S25 offers both options.

Gallery App’s Natural Language Search Won’t Be Available

On the Galaxy S25, you can search for photos or videos in the Gallery app using everyday language. For example, saying “can you show me screenshots” will pull up the relevant images. This makes searching more intuitive.

In contrast, on the Galaxy S23, you must simply type “screenshots” to find what you want. The S25’s ability to understand natural language makes it user-friendly, while older models fall short.

While the fourth beta of One UI 7.0 includes this natural language feature, it seems unlikely it will be part of the official release for older devices. But does it really matter? For many users, precise searching isn’t a game-changer. It’s just one of several buzzwords Samsung uses to market the Galaxy S25.
