Kraft and Belichick Miss Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection

The New England Patriots’ legendary owner, Robert Kraft, has been snubbed in the voting for the 2026 Hall of Fame class, a source confirmed recently. This news follows the announcement that Bill Belichick, the coach behind the team’s six Super Bowl titles, also did not make it in his first year eligible.
The voting process has changed this year, making the selection more competitive. There are 50 voters who each pick three candidates from a list of five. To gain entry, a candidate needs at least 40 votes. Kraft was nominated under the contributor committee while Belichick was nominated under the coaches’ committee.
Despite the disappointment, Kraft’s remarkable contributions to the Patriots can’t be overlooked. Since buying the team in 1994, he has played a crucial role in their success. Notably, he has been part of every Super Bowl win, overseeing coaches like Bill Parcells, Belichick, and Mike Vrabel. His leadership helped reshape the team after letting go of Jerod Mayo as head coach.
Under Kraft’s guidance, the franchise has also significantly impacted the NFL and its media landscape. His effort to chair the league’s media committee has led to lucrative TV deals, including an $113 billion agreement for broadcasting rights in 2021.
Interestingly, Kraft’s influence extends beyond the field. He privately funded the construction of Gillette Stadium, which opened its doors in 2002. He also stands out as the only NFL owner to provide free parking for fans attending games—a move that resonates well with the community.
Both Kraft and Belichick have great chances of being inducted into the Hall of Fame eventually. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recognized their immense contributions to the sport, stating, “They are spectacular. They contribute so much to this game.”
