The 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid is a popular choice for families. It’s known for being a Comfortable Runabout Vehicle, often called a compact SUV or crossover. You’ll spot it easily in Canadian neighborhoods, usually with a baby seat in the back. It’s a common sight in downtown Vancouver, too.
This SUV has grown in size over the years but remains easy to park. Its stylish design features a sleek front that aligns with current trends in SUVs. The EX-L model comes with 18-inch wheels, while the Touring model has eye-catching 19-inch alloys. Both trims include a standard power sunroof, although the Touring trim has roof rails that the EX-L lacks.

The latest model includes a hybrid version for drivers seeking better fuel efficiency. It provides significant benefits for urban commutes as it runs efficiently in stop-and-go traffic.
When it comes to fuel economy, ratings are around 6.0 L/100 km in the city, 6.9 on the highway, and a combined 6.4. It’s noteworthy that all Canadian versions come with all-wheel drive, which is usually less fuel-efficient than front-wheel drive. The CR-V operates more efficiently in city driving, making it great for urban dwellers.
Inside, the cabin is functional rather than flashy. A large touchscreen sits atop the dashboard, making it easy to access controls without much distraction. Thankfully, Honda hasn’t forgotten about traditional tactile buttons—volume controls are still manual!
With 1,028 liters of cargo space, it competes closely with the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson. While those rivals might edge it out slightly, the CR-V’s space is still impressive. However, if towing is important to you, note that it can only handle a maximum of 453 kg, which is less than some competitors.
The 2025 CR-V Hybrid earned a top five-star safety rating from the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It comes equipped with standard driver-assist technologies, including adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring along with a backup camera.
During my week of testing, I appreciated its ease of handling for city driving and found it perfect for shopping trips. It also performed well on a longer drive to Kelowna, allowing for smooth acceleration and comfortable highway cruising.
The continuously variable transmission (CVT) provides seamless gear transitions. Plus, regenerative braking can be adjusted using paddles on the steering wheel, helping to control your speed smoothly when approaching stops.
Comfort is another highlight. The seats are cozy, and heated rear seats were a hit with older passengers.
The CR-V Hybrid comes in two trims: EX-L and Touring. The Touring model is loaded with features like rain-sensing wipers, a hands-free tailgate, premium audio, and navigation.
With a price range of $47,325 to $49,825 in Canada, the CR-V Hybrid is worth checking out for those in search of a reliable family vehicle.
