Why the Indian Pharma Sector is Becoming the Top Global Healthcare Partner: Insights from iPHEX 2025

India Takes Center Stage in Global Pharma: iPHEX 2025

The International Exhibition on Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare (iPHEX 2025) kicked off on September 4 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This annual event, organized by the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), highlights India’s growing leadership in the pharmaceutical sector.

During the opening session, Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister for Commerce and Industry, spoke about India’s vital role in global healthcare. He emphasized the country’s duty to provide affordable and quality medicines to people worldwide. Goyal remarked that India is becoming known as the “Pharmacy of the World” and called for stronger global partnerships in healthcare.

Bhavin Mehta, Chairman of iPHEX, shared that the event has evolved into a platform focused on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and enhancing market intelligence. He noted a significant increase in India’s pharmaceutical exports—from $14.9 billion in FY14 to $30.5 billion in FY25, reflecting an impressive growth rate of over 104%. This rise showcases the sector’s resilience and innovation.

Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drug Controller General of India, addressed the significance of regulatory alignment with international standards. He assured global partners of India’s commitment to maintaining high-quality benchmarks in pharmaceutical products.

Namit Joshi, Chairman of Pharmexcil, highlighted how iPHEX serves as a vital hub for pharmaceutical exports. This platform connects policy and regulation with market opportunities, providing assurance to buyers about the quality and reliability of Indian medicines.

The theme of iPHEX 2025, “Powering Healthcare, Connecting Markets,” underscores the event’s goal to foster collaboration among industry leaders and policymakers. The exhibition aims to open new trade channels and strengthen India’s role in shaping the future of global healthcare.

Recent statistics support the importance of exhibitions like iPHEX. According to a report by the Indian Brand Equity Foundation, India’s pharmaceutical market is projected to reach $130 billion by 2030. This growth signals the increasing global trust in Indian products.

With rising awareness of healthcare priorities worldwide, events like iPHEX not only reflect India’s capabilities but also respond to changing global dynamics. Buyers and stakeholders are looking for reliable partners, and India is positioning itself as a primary choice.
