A Coventry City fan named James Roach recently took a unique route to support his team. Instead of a straightforward train ride, he flew from Gatwick to Barcelona, then back to Manchester, to save money. The total cost for his flights was £84, while a single train ticket from London to Preston would have set him back £85.
James plans to arrive back in the UK at 2 PM GMT on Friday. After that, he’ll hop on a train to Blackburn, check into a hotel in Preston, and head to Ewood Park for the match later that evening.
Originally from Coventry, James moved to Brighton two years ago. He remains loyal to Coventry City, keeping a season ticket despite his relocation. “I wanted a sunny solo trip,” he explained about his journey to Barcelona. He had fond memories of visiting the city during his childhood and couldn’t resist the chance to explore it again.
During his time in Barcelona, he visited famous spots like Casa Batlló, Fundació Joan Miró, and the Sagrada Família, which he called “the best building I’ve ever seen.” One evening, while wandering the city, he found many bars packed with fans glued to the Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. “Every time Bayern scored, the cheers echoed all around,” he noted.
As for the upcoming match, a draw would secure Coventry City’s promotion to the Premier League. James is optimistic, predicting a 2-0 victory.
