Why This TNA Star Calls the Backstage Environment ‘The Coolest Experience Ever’

Nic Nemeth is all about TNA these days.

It’s been over a year since he made a splash in TNA during the Hard to Kill event in 2024. After two decades with WWE, this shift was significant for him. However, Nemeth now describes TNA’s backstage vibe as “the coolest ever”.

In an interview with TV Insider, he opened up about leaving WWE. He likened it to ending a long-term relationship:

“At first, I wasn’t sure what to do. I’d just gotten out of a 20-year relationship and wanted to take a break before jumping into another one. I wanted to explore the independents, travel to new places, and experience wrestling without the WWE label.”

Nemeth shared how he was convinced to give TNA a shot. People like Scott D’Amore encouraged him to check out the locker room and the unique atmosphere:

“Scott kept urging me to give them a chance. I got messages from Frankie Kazarian, Brian Myers, Bobby Roode, and others saying, ‘You’ve got to try it out.’ After my first payday, I felt the team spirit and knew I wanted to be a part of it.”

He praised the team behind the scenes for their warm welcome and support:

“I’m part of a team that’s thriving. Ariel, Tommy, and Gail are pushing the talent and fostering a collaborative environment. It’s incredible.”

Nemeth won the TNA World Championship at Slammiversary last July. He waited six months before jumping into the title picture because he wanted things to feel right:

“I told them I didn’t want to rush anything. If it didn’t feel organic, I didn’t want to pursue it. Storylines evolved, and when the time was right, it made sense for what TNA was doing. I’m glad to play my part as champion.”

He’s set to defend his title against Joe Hendry at Genesis tonight.

Also, during his WWE days as Dolph Ziggler, Nemeth faced off against John Cena numerous times, especially in 2013. With Cena’s retirement coming up, he hopes for a chance to recreate some classic moments and maybe team up with old friends again.
