FORT WORTH, Texas – In a thrilling match, K-State’s senior setter, Ava LeGrand, showcased her skills yet again, contributing significantly despite the Wildcats’ four-set loss to TCU. K-State fought hard, with scores of 24-26, 23-25, 34-32, and 17-25.
LeGrand recorded her eighth double-double of the season. She delivered 40 assists and made 19 digs along with four blocks. This marks her remarkable consistency, achieving double-doubles in seven of the last nine matches. Meanwhile, libero Symone Sims also stood out defensively with 20 digs.
TCU, ranked 11th, improved its home match record to 18 straight wins. The Horned Frogs had several players shine, led by Evan Hendrix, who tallied 27 kills. Becca Kelley and Sarah Sylvester supported with 13 and 12 kills, respectively.
K-State’s offense was powered by Shaylee Myers and Aniya Clinton, who combined for 39 of the team’s 57 kills. Clinton’s performance included topping the match with three service aces. Brenna Schmidt also contributed with eight kills and led with six blocks.
Coach Jason Mansfield praised his team’s effort in a tough match. “I’m really proud of how we competed on the road against a strong TCU team,” he noted. “We showed grit and saved four match points in the third set, which we can build on.”
