Will Levis Opens Up About Challenging Situation: ‘It Sucks,’ But I’m Ready to Rise to the Occasion!

The Titans are currently experimenting with different quarterbacks during their organized team activities. However, it’s clear that Cam Ward, the team’s No. 1 overall pick, will lead them in Week 1. This situation has everyone aware: Ward, the Titans, and even Will Levis.

Levis, drafted in the second round, started 21 games over the last two seasons but didn’t secure enough wins. The team’s rough 3-14 record last season, largely with Levis at the helm, led to them earning the No. 1 overall pick and selecting Ward.

Reflecting on his current role, Levis expressed his frustration but is focused on making the best of it. “Anyone who’s ever been in my situation would agree that it sucks,” he shared. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and continuing to support his teammates, despite this setback.

In preparation for this season, Levis dedicated seven weeks to training with private coach Jordan Palmer in California. He aimed to refine his skills and regain his footing. “I feel like it’s really paid off,” he noted about his recent progress.

Though he’ll transition from starter to backup, Levis is determined to stay ready. “I haven’t been a backup in a while, but I’m going to keep the same mindset,” he said. The last time he held a backup position was in 2020 at Penn State, before he transferred to Kentucky.

Interestingly, he holds no resentment toward Ward. “He’s been great,” Levis stated, acknowledging their collaboration. He finds Ward intelligent and is eager to learn from him while sharing insights during practice.

This quarterback dynamic isn’t just a personal story. According to recent statistics from Pro Football Focus, only 25% of rookie quarterbacks in the last decade have secured winning records in their first season. This adds complexity to the Titans’ choices and pressures both players to perform at their best. The evolution of quarterback careers is often unpredictable, making each season a fresh opportunity.

As Levis navigates this transition, fans and analysts will closely watch how he adapts. The competition in the NFL is fierce, and every decision impacts team dynamics and individual careers.
