WILLIANA, La. – For over two months, folks in Williana have been dealing with ongoing water issues, and many are struggling with low water pressure at home.
This problem has made daily life tougher, especially for those trying to get ready for work and school. With no fix in sight, questions about the rising water bills are becoming more common. People are frustrated and are looking for answers.
Lisa Humphries, a local resident, shared her concerns: “It’s always the same excuse. They say they can’t fix anything due to a lack of funds. But where is our money going? We pay our bills.”
It’s not just the pressure that’s a worry. Many residents are concerned about the quality of the water. Some fear it might even be unhealthy. Tina Lincecum spoke out about her worries. “I think it could be a health issue. We’re uncertain about what we’re using to brush our teeth. I wouldn’t mind paying a higher bill if that meant we were getting clean, safe water. But I refuse to pay for something that’s harmful to us,” she said.
To cope with the shortage, some residents are storing water in jugs and containers. Thomas Sills expressed his frustration, saying, “If you don’t keep water stored, you just don’t have any. I’m considering going back to using my old well pump.”
Even simple tasks like showering have become a struggle. Donald Sutton described his experience: “I tried to take a shower before work, and I just got air. Thankfully, I had a wet washcloth left over from the day before.”
He pointed out that poor communication with local officials compounds the problem. “We need to speak out as a community. We don’t have a representative for our area, and that makes things harder,” he noted.
Attempts to reach the Central Grant Water System for a comment were unsuccessful. As residents continue to face these ongoing challenges, the urgent need for solutions is clear.
