WKU Volleyball Sweeps High Point and ETSU

WKU Volleyball had an impressive start to the weekend, winning both matches against High Point and East Tennessee State University. The Hilltoppers showcased powerful offense and solid defense, improving their overall record to 5-2.

In their first match against High Point, WKU hit an impressive .391 and recorded 45 kills. Meanwhile, the Panthers struggled, finishing with a mere .040 hitting percentage.

Match Highlights Against High Point

• First Set (25-21): WKU quickly took control with a run that shifted the score from a 7-7 tie to 16-10. Kendall Meller stood out with three kills, while the defense tallied 17 digs and five blocks.

• Second Set (25-17): Faith Young led with five kills. WKU limited High Point to just eight kills and forced seven attack errors. The Hilltoppers’ defense shined again, gathering 21 digs.

• Third Set (25-19): The WKU offense reached its peak in this set, hitting .286 with 14 kills. Alivia Skidmore excelled with four kills while WKU blocked five shots.

Match Highlights Against ETSU

In the match against ETSU, WKU continued their dominance.

• First Set (25-21): Kaira Knox shone with a hitting percentage of .833. The team rallied from behind to take the lead, aided by a 5-1 run.

• Second Set (25-21): WKU improved their hitting percentage to .353, with Skidmore hitting .462. The Hilltoppers’ defense remained tough, limiting ETSU’s offense significantly.

• Third Set (25-14): WKU’s offense was unstoppable, posting a hitting percentage of .469. Faith Young and Gabby Weihe combined for eight kills, leading a strong performance at the net.

Notable Performances

Overall, WKU wrapped up the day with:

• 101 total kills.
• 21 blocks.
• 93 digs.

Alivia Skidmore led with 20 kills, while Faith Young had 19 kills and 10 blocks throughout the matches. Tayler Baron topped the digs chart with 19.
