Honda Signs New Sponsorship with World Athletics
World Athletics has signed an exciting new sponsorship agreement with Honda Motor Co Ltd. as of November 2023. This partnership is a step forward for both organizations, focusing on shared values and sustainability.
Today, World Athletics received a brand-new electric SUV, the Honda e:Ny1. This vehicle will play an essential role during the upcoming World Athletics Championships set for Tokyo from September 13 to 21, 2025.
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe officially received the keys at the organization’s Monaco headquarters. Representatives from Honda, including Kotaro Ishii and Paul Collignon, were present to celebrate the occasion.
Coe expressed his gratitude, highlighting Honda’s reputation for quality and innovation, especially in environmental and safety advancements. “Our collaboration with Honda goes beyond sponsorship; it reflects our shared commitment to the environment and to making sports better,” he said.
Honda’s e:Ny1 is a part of the brand’s electrified fleet, reinforcing World Athletics’ sustainability goals. The vehicle will be used for various purposes during the championship, including leading events and transporting athletes and officials.
This partnership is significant as it contributes to World Athletics’ income, which has grown by over 25% in the past four years thanks to several new sponsorship agreements. The collaboration also aligns with World Athletics’ “Athletics for a Better World” initiative, highlighting their dedication to creating a positive impact through sports.
With Honda on board, the upcoming championships promise to be smooth and sustainable. The alliance showcases the growing appeal of athletics to commercial partners committed to environmental responsibility.
