Tournament Chairman Matt Mooney announced today that World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and World No. 15 Sahith Theegala will join the 2025 WM Phoenix Open, taking place from February 3-9 at TPC Scottsdale. This will be the 90th edition of this popular tournament, also known as “The People’s Open.”

Mooney expressed excitement about their return: “Scottie, a two-time WM Phoenix Open champion, and Sahith, who wowed fans with his debut in 2022, will really elevate the tournament. We’re eager to watch them compete on such an exciting stage.”
Scottie Scheffler has an impressive record. He has 13 victories on the PGA TOUR, with standout wins at the Masters in 2022 and 2024. Scheffler also took home gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and won the PLAYERS Championship in both 2023 and 2024. Last season, he finished with seven wins, two runner-up spots, and 17 Top-25 finishes in just 19 tournaments. This will be his sixth time playing in the WM Phoenix Open, where he won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.
On the other hand, Sahith Theegala took home his first PGA TOUR win at the 2023 Fortinet Championship. In the 2024 season, he earned two second-place finishes and recorded nine Top-10 finishes. A talented player, he was a three-time NCAA All-American at Pepperdine University and received top awards in 2020 for collegiate golf. Theegala first joined the WM Phoenix Open in 2022 as a sponsor’s exemption and finished tied for third. He will be making his fourth appearance at TPC Scottsdale.
The field for the tournament is looking strong, featuring 12 players from the Top-25 and 30 from the Top-50 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Among them are seven Major champions and five former WM Phoenix Open champions. Notable former winners include Nick Taylor (2024), Scottie Scheffler (2022, 2023), Rickie Fowler (2019), Gary Woodland (2018), and Hideki Matsuyama (2016, 2017).
