WVU Dominates at Bryan Clay Invitational and Mountaineer Showcase: Highlights from a Split Squad Performance

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – This weekend, the West Virginia University track and field team has a busy schedule. They will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, from April 16-18 and also host the Mountaineer Showcase in Morgantown on April 17.

The Bryan Clay Invitational kicks off Thursday at 10:30 a.m., continues Friday at 10 a.m., and wraps up Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The Mountaineer Showcase is set for Friday at 10 a.m.

In their last outing at the Bison Outdoor Classic, Alyssa Sauro stood out with a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters, clocking in at 16:20.18. Eva Craigie also performed well, taking fifth place in the long jump with a mark of 5.71 meters, while Mary Delaney led in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:28.90.

Here’s who will be competing in the Bryan Clay Invite:

  • 5,000m: Joy Naukot, Mercy Kinyanjui
  • 10,000m: Emily Bryce, Lexi Lamb
  • Steeplechase: Ronis Chelangat
  • 800m: Kishay Rowe

At the Mountaineer Showcase, watch for these athletes:

  • 100m Hurdles: Olivia Cress

  • 800m: Mary Delaney, Audrey Hall, Eva Rinker
  • 1,500m: Aislinn Frazer, Tatiana Moura, Alyssa Sauro, Eva Rinker
