In a recent podcast appearance, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella expressed excitement about creating a “catalogue of games” utilizing AI. He emphasized the potential to generate games based on gameplay data, making them more consistent and diverse while allowing for user modifications.
A concept video highlighted an AI version of Bleeding Edge, showing it running at a low frame rate. Players could even manipulate objects in the game, making them interactive.
Nadella stated that Microsoft plans to train its AI on more software to enhance its gaming products. He believes that soon, we’ll see a range of new games powered by this AI technology.
As Microsoft shifts toward being a third-party publisher, it’s likely that this AI tech could also appear in games for the PS5, sparking some anticipation among gamers.
Despite mixed reactions, Nadella couldn’t hide his enthusiasm. He recalled a moment when Spencer demonstrated the AI’s capabilities with an Xbox controller, creating an impactful experience reminiscent of breakthroughs like ChatGPT.
However, there are concerns about AI affecting creativity. Critics worry that AI could lead to issues like plagiarism since it learns from human-created content without proper credit.
Just like past trends involving the metaverse and NFTs, major companies are looking to AI as the next investment opportunity, hoping to catch the attention of shareholders eager for the next big thing.
