A Meal to Remember at Marcel DW

Dining at Marcel DW, a cozy European bistro on Main Street, is more than just a meal; it’s an experience. Owned by best friends Jeremy Duclut and Jonathan Warfield, this place offers French-inspired cuisine that makes you feel like you’re somewhere far away from Sarasota.

They took over the space in spring 2023 with a shared dream: to create a small restaurant where they can truly express their culinary vision. Warfield shares, “This is my first place as an owner. I have the freedom to create and do what I love with my best friend.”

The meal kicks off with charred green beans served in a rich amaretto-brown butter sauce. This twist on the classic French almondine may convert even the staunchest green bean critics. The crunch from slivered almonds, paired with fresh lemon and parsley, creates a vibrant and flavorful start. This dish, although seasonal, has become a staple for good reason.

Next up are pan-seared sea scallops on a bed of cauliflower puree, complemented by English peas and mushrooms drizzled with truffle oil. Warfield skillfully balances flavors, highlighting the natural sweetness of each ingredient. He explains, “The sweetness from the peas enhances the scallops and the creamy puree, adding richness.” Each bite reveals layers of taste that showcase the care taken in the kitchen.

Marcel DW is open every day from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is located at 1568 Main Street, Sarasota.
