Boys’ Basketball
Peekskill’s boys’ basketball team is feeling good as they head toward the end of the regular season. They secured a strong win over Hendrick Hudson last week, winning 69-47. Jojo Brickhouse led the scoring with 16 points, supported by Jaden Chavis with 15 and Isaiah Crawford with 14.
Currently, Peekskill has a record of 12 wins and 6 losses. They will face Sleepy Hollow on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 4:30 p.m. Their final regular-season game is against Edgemont High School on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m.
Girls’ Basketball
Unfortunately, the Peekskill Varsity Girls Basketball team faced a tough week. They lost to Hendrick Hudson at home on Feb. 5 with a score of 63-19. Senior Jazlynn Parra managed to score 10 points in the game.
On Feb. 7, they played against Edgemont and lost again, this time 44-34. Jealina Searight led the scoring with 11 points, while Nai’lah Smalls and Riley Jenkins each added 10 points. The home game against Saunders scheduled for Feb. 11 has been canceled, and no records of wins or losses will be kept for that match.
With a current record of 6 wins and 12 losses, Peekskill will host their final game of the season against Port Chester on Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m.
Wrestling
The wrestling season ended for Peekskill’s Varsity Wrestling team on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Section 1 divisionals in White Plains. Coach Andre Lee noted that no Peekskill wrestlers placed in the top four in their weight classes.
Looking ahead, the Section 1 Division 1 championships will take place at the Westchester County Center from Feb. 11-12. The top wrestlers in each weight class will qualify for the state tournament at the end of the month in Albany.
Winter Track
On Sunday, Feb. 16, Arisa Specce and Jermaine Carter will represent Peekskill at the Class B sectionals at The Armory in New York City. Specce will compete in the 1,500-meter race walk, while Carter takes on the 600-meter run.
