Following heavy criticism, the episode of “India’s Got Latent” featuring Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia has been removed from YouTube. This episode, which brought together several internet celebrities, has sparked controversy due to inappropriate comments made by Ranveer about parents. After complaints and a police report were filed, the Indian government intervened, leading to its removal from the platform.
Ranveer’s comments became the center of attention after the video went viral, with many viewers expressing their outrage. He had asked a contestant a shocking question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” This query was met with strong backlash, as many considered it vulgar and insensitive.
In response to the uproar, Ranveer issued a public apology and requested that the show’s producers remove the episode. Kanchan Gupta, a senior advisor at the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, confirmed the episode’s removal on social media, stating the government’s role in the decision.
The episode, which also featured popular creators like Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, was initially released exclusively to members. However, the criticism soon led to calls for stricter action, including demands from the All Indian Cine Workers Association for a ban on the show. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked that while freedom of expression is vital, it has its limits.
Despite his apology, many continue to voice their disapproval, highlighting the need for more responsible content creation in the entertainment industry. The incident serves as a reminder of the power of social media in holding creators accountable for their statements.
