Zim Sailing
Zim Sailing has been creating dinghies, like FJs and 420s, for clubs and schools across America. Now, they’re stepping up their game by building class-legal ISCA (Sunfish) and ILCA (Laser) boats in Bristol, Rhode Island.

The journey to this point has not been easy. Zim has worked hard to meet the strict certification requirements set by ILCA and World Sailing. Recently, they received the official approval, confirming that their ILCA dinghies meet all necessary regulations for competition.
George Yioulos from Zim Sailing expressed his excitement, saying, “We are absolutely thrilled to be a class-approved ILCA builder in North America. The certification process has been rigorous, but the technical support from ILCA and World Sailing has been outstanding.” He highlights that they are joining a network of builders committed to ensuring every ILCA is effectively the same.
Zim Sailing has nearly 20 years of experience with ILCAs, and they are eager to support dealers who promote sailing at the local and regional levels. They hope that this support, combined with their experience in dinghy construction, will encourage sailors to try their boats.
As part of this new venture, Zim is launching its first production run of 50 ILCA boats, called the “Founders’ Series.” Each boat will come with a special commemorative plaque. They will also provide essential ILCA parts for dealers and retail customers, ensuring a comprehensive supply of what’s needed for sailing enthusiasts.
