In 1938, Ruth Graves Wakefield, the owner of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts, decided to mix things up. 2. Beer
Beer traces its origins back about 8,000 years to ancient Iraq. The story goes that barley got wet and began to sprout. Someone decided to bake it into bread, which accidentally became a bubbly concoction after soaking in jars. Curiosity and a little luck created the first beer!
3. Worcestershire Sauce
This savory sauce has a quirky history. Back in 1835, two chemists in Worcester, England, tried to recreate a popular sauce for a local lord. Their first attempt stank so badly they stored it away. Two years later, they discovered that the hidden concoction had transformed into a delightful sauce. Talk about a time capsule surprise!

In France’s Champagne region, winemakers faced difficulty as cold winters kept interrupting the fermentation of their wine. When the yeast would reactivate in the spring, it caused some bottles to fizz and occasionally explode. The ones that didn’t became the sparkling beverage we adore today.
