Exciting State Baseball Recap: University and Ridgeline Fall in 3A Tournament, Northport Surges Ahead in 1B!

This is a recap of Tuesday’s state baseball tournament games.

3A Tournament Highlights

Shorewood 5, Ridgeline 3: Jameson Connolly had an incredible game, hitting three times with two doubles and a triple while driving in two runs. The 13th-seeded Stormrays, with a record of 16-8, knocked out the 20th-seeded Falcons, who finished at 11-13. Connolly also pitched a strong game, giving up two earned runs over five hits and notching three strikeouts. Finn Liekko came in for relief, throwing three shutout innings to secure the win.

Caden Andreas held his ground for Ridgeline, going three for four with a double and stealing two bases. Mikey Macall, Ben Wartinger, and Avan Brookshire also contributed with runs batted in.

West Seattle 4, University 3: Oliver Heltzel shined in relief for West Seattle. The 15th-seeded Wildcats, holding a record of 15-9, eliminated the 18th-seeded Titans, who are also 15-9. Logan Spradling brought U-Hi closer with a two-RBI single in the fourth inning, but Heltzel shut down any further threat, allowing only one run after taking the mound, along with four strikeouts. Luca Longo and Brant Trautman each had two hits for U-Hi.

1B Tournament Highlights

Northport 8, Riverside Christian 1: Dawson Baribault was formidable on the mound, allowing only one run and striking out 13 batters in a complete game. The fifth-seeded Mustangs improved to 18-3 while eliminating the 12th-seeded Crusaders, who ended their season at 8-11. Both Pete Beardslee and Vinny Campbell contributed two RBIs for Northport, setting them up for a matchup against fourth-seeded Naselle on Saturday.

Sunnyside Christian 14, Curlew 4: The seventh-seeded Knights earned a decisive win against the tenth-seeded Cougars. Sunnyside Christian, now 14-9, eliminated Curlew, which closed their season at 14-7. They will face DeSales in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
